Physiotherapy for headaches and migraine
It is now commonly understood that headaches and migraines are caused by a sensitised nervous system, specifically hypersensitivity of the brainstem region. As brainstem sensitisation reaches a certain threshold it will bring on a headache or migraine episode. While there are many factors that can increase this sensitivity, the upper neck is often a major contributor. Rob Wallis is an experienced physiotherapist who specialises in The Watson Headache Approach which is used to identify a problem with the upper neck and then treat this problem to decrease brainstem sensitivity and can complement pharmacological approaches to headache and migraine management.
Neuropsychology Services
Neuropsychology is a specialised area of psychology which focuses on diagnosing and managing conditions which impact the brain. As neuropsychologists, a key area of practice involves cognitive assessments.
Generally, a cognitive assessment ranges from 1-3 hours and involves testing aspects of brain function including memory, language, attention, thinking, IQ and executive skills. Before the assessment, there is usually a 1 hour initial consultation where we collect relevant information such as medical history and background information. After the assessment, there is an opportunity to discuss test results as well as to provide recommendations and next steps.
